The Giant National Capital BBQ Battle is an experience that could only take place in Washington, DC, where the country’s culinary traditions unfold against the backdrop of the U.S. Capitol and the National Mall. The festival embodies an “Only in DC” spirit as it offers visitors from around the world a chance to savor barbecue shaped by America’s diverse cultural roots in the nation's capital.
Top pitmasters and celebrity chefs from all over the U.S. fire up their smokers to battle for national bragging rights and more than $50,000 in cash and prizes. From Memphis ribs to Carolina pulled pork and everything in between, you can taste regional specialties from some of the best barbecue vendors in the business at the festival.
This year’s lineup spans the genres that have shaped American culture. Artists on multiple stages are set to perform rock, jazz, blues, R&B, folk and DC’s very own go-go. The event transforms downtown DC into a non-stop concert in honor of the nation's musical legacy.
There’s something for everyone at the Battle. Kids will love the games, interactive sports zones and hands-on activities, while adults can visit Giant’s Corks to Caps Tasting Tent and enjoy live entertainment as well as free food samples. Visitors can also expect stroller access, shaded rest areas and plenty of food options.

Art-To-Go Village at the 2026 Giant National BBQ Battle will feature handmade crafts, fine art and exhibits from local businesses. Visitors can meet makers, shop unique works and celebrate authentic DC culture. The Pepsi Lays Art-To-Go-Go Stage adds to the energy and keeps the party going with nonstop go-go music all weekend long.
Conveniently located on Pennsylvania Avenue NW, the BBQ Battle is accessible by Metro. Parking garages are nearby, but public transportation is encouraged. Also, you can “Bike to the Battle” with free bike valet parking. With wheelchair access, family-friendly services, shaded rest zones and inclusive programming, the BBQ Battle ensures everyone can comfortably celebrate. It’s a welcoming experience for all ages and groups.
Over the years, the BBQ Battle has raised millions for local charities and hunger relief programs.
