A New Civic Path: Kickoff Event

President Lincoln’s Cottage is partnering with The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation for a four-event series to cultivate and lift up the brave ideas of all who are taking on Lincoln’s “unfinished work” in pursuit of a more perfect union.

Jun 04, 2026. 5:00PM-9:00PM

As a part of Empathy & Connection: A Vision for America at 250, President Lincoln’s Cottage is partnering with The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization with nearly 40 years of experience equipping people, organizations, communities, and networks with the tools to bridge divides, build capacity, and tackle shared challenges. The Institute’s practice of Turning Outward has spread to all 50 states across the U.S. and 40 countries around the world.

Rich Harwood, president and founder of the Institute, has been recruited to solve some of the most difficult problems of our time, including being called into Newtown, Connecticut, after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Today, Rich is taking his Campaign for the New Civic Path across the country, declaring that the change we need today is going to start in our local communities when we get on a new civic path.

Join us for the opening kickoff event on June 4 to engage people’s imagination around how the new civic path aligns with President Lincoln’s aspirations for our country and what it means in the context of America’s 250th. More information about the full series here

Tickets for the kickoff event are $28, which includes admission and a copy of Rich Harwood's book, "The New Civic Path: Restoring Our Belief in One Another and Our Nation". Register for the full series now and receive a discount..

Members of Team Lincoln who donate at the $100 level or above receive discounted admission to this and other programs. To receive your promo code, email Emma Tanner at etanner@lincolncottage.org. Click here for more information on becoming a member of Team Lincoln.
