Freedom Before Emancipation: Family Day for Juneteenth

Join Mount Vernon as we celebrate Juneteenth by remembering how enslaved people resisted enslavement and sought freedom before the Emancipation Proclamation.

Jun 19, 2026 - Jun 20, 2026. From: 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM

Watch musical performances and see special character performances from actors portraying William Lee, Tobias Lear, and Martha Washington.

Plus, take a tour of the estate, watch spinning, cooking, and blacksmith demonstrations, and honor the lives of the enslaved at a commemoration ceremony.
