Honor the courage and sacrifice of those who served in the Battle of Midway at a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the United States Navy Memorial. This commemorative event pays tribute to the Sailors, aviators, and leaders whose decisive actions in June 1942 marked a turning point in the Pacific during World War II.
Military historians have called the Battle of Midway the most stunning victory in naval warfare one of the most consequential naval engagements in world history. Our incredible men and women of the Sea Services executed a relentless campaign against the enemy and forced them to retreat.
This battle was a major turning point during World War II a decisive victory for the Americans and a substantial blow to enemy forces, from which they never recovered. And it was all thanks to the strategy, bravery, and heroism of our Sea Service members.
Guests will gather on the Memorial Plaza to reflect on the legacy of service, hear brief remarks, and participate in the time-honored tradition of laying a wreath in remembrance of the fallen.
Join us as we preserve their story, recognize their valor, and ensure that the lessons of Midway continue to inspire future generations of Sea Service members and the nation they serve.
